    Another drummer bites the dust!

    :D

For several reasons had to let current potential drummer go. It sucks, he seemed a nice person! It was a shame to have to do it.

My conclusion through the past years however is this:

Session players are easier. I want to work with session drummers from this point forward. We should just hire people from now on it is so much easier that way.

    Girly Post (Lush obsessive post)
Yesterday I put gobs of Lemony Flutter on my hands (yellow cream on the bottom of the picture):

Then exfoliated on top of the Lemony flutter with Ocean Salt scrub (blue stuff on the top of the picture.)

The results are very nice. I think that if there was a soft hand contest I would have won it.

I also ended up smelling like a Margarita. However, Jason was obsessively sniffing my hands (he even tried to bite them) and claimed I smelled like a Pez candy.

Either way, I am going to try to do this all over rather then just on the hands. I am very excited for this.

By the way, I have hit a very weird stage of my life of where I am constantly slathering all types of moisturizers on my skin. Aloe, Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter. Everything. All day. Every morning. Every night. Right now infact (I have a little shea butter mango seed moisturizing cream right here!)

It feels very... Ancient Romeish... and decedent. All I need now is incense, bells ringing and a few cow sacrifices (don't take that part too seriously, I love animals)

Well back to work again today. Again my VP on the rampage. I almost walked out again today. In fact I started collecting my thinks and cleaning out my locker and then a co-worker managed to talk me down some but I was ready to go. Fuck this noise, I can work at fucking target for 1/4 the pay and have just enough to make my truck payment and the insurance and I'll stay at my dads or friends or something.

Mentally, I'm done. Our company as a whole was not prepared for what we got into (and I warned of that beforehand) but we were making due. As soon as something goes wrong there is the need to point fingers and blame anyone but the people in charge of 'organizing' this mess. On top of it I got stabbed in the back, can't blame anyone for covering their ass but yeah... Fuck em all!

    My Dad
My mom called me around 11:30 pm (nearly two hours ago) to tell me my dad, Wayne McCoy, had died. Back in early May, he'd had a case of acute pancreatitis and had been in the hospital since then. He got worse, then he got better, then worse, then better... he was scheduled for surgery next week to clean out some of necrotic tissue around his pancreas. But today, they found he was having trouble breathing and discovered a cyst on his pancreas had become septic -- very infected. They were going to try to give him some experimental treatment with antibiotics, but the bacteria were stronger than his failing body. He would have been 70 in October.

I'd actually gone down to see him a couple of weeks ago, a quick flight to Florida one day and then a flight back the next. He was in bad shape then, on a dialysis machine, several IVs and other machines and lots of tubes going into him. It was tragic to see him like that. Up until May, he was still full of life. Not two days before he went into the hospital, I'd talked to him and my mother via a Skype video call, on Mother's Day. They were going to come up here to Maryland the last week of June (last week) to visit, after seeing my brother perform in Aida in New York. That had gotten cancelled, obviously.

He lived a good and happy life, I will say. His love of music especially he imparted onto all of his children. He was also a skilled artist and was finishing up a novel and preparing it for publication. And to the very end, he was still very liberal and a staunch atheist and influenced me greatly in my skepticism and rational world view.

For anyone here in the DC area who knew him, I am going to organize some kind of memorial service or wake or something very soon. More details will be forthcoming.

    Sam Mullen

Very few of you have heard mention of this man, and those of you who have usually heard of him in the context of me bitching about what a crotchety, cranky old man he was. Sam was one of my work buddies. Crochety, Cranky and Old, yes, but very intelligent. I couldn't help but love the guy. He was my main contact with the in-house IT department and taught me loads of great stuff. We got along well because it seemed I was the only one around brave enough to call Shenanigans on him and still joke around at the end of the day.  It was our daily routine that I'd send him tons of work, and harass him into doing it all, and he'd respond with cryptic german insults, and then laugh with me when I'd have them translated and then shoot back.

Anyway. Sam passed away last night. He'd been very sick for a very long time and luckily doesn't have to suffer anymore. But... I'm sad. I'll miss him alot.

    Goodbye, Zauberer.

    Me - 1, Mildew - 0

I am proud to report that my first attempt at re-caulking a bathtub was a success :) I got to take a mildew-free shower this morning, and it was great lol

Of course time will only tell if the mildew will rear its ugly head again, but for now, I'm pleased.  Thanks for the tips everyone!!

Oh, and a word to the wise for any of you out there also looking to embark on this grand adventure... They're not kidding - Razorblades are your friends. I should definitely have taken everyone's advice on this point a bit more to heart. I found this "excellent caulk removal tool" when I was purchasing the new caulk that turned out to be a complete piece of CRAP. I ended up having to go back to Home Depot anyway to buy the razorblades after all, which is what the guides and such had advised all along.

    Oak desk
Last week I bid for a desk on Ebay and "won". If you see my previous desk you'll understand why ;P It made my eyes bleed and was clashing with the rest of the living/dining room furniture so much.

I love this desk. I needed a little bit of repair. We picked it up yesterday, and we had to take it apart to fit it in the car. Nice that it could be taken apart, since many antique furniture doesn't...

When we got home we assembled it, I washed it, gave a de-waxer to the board, filled in the cracks with wood pasta (I always end up using my fingers):

And it was ready. I love it:

Then came the lenghtier process of all, to unplug al the cables of the computer, clean up the mess, clean the computer in and out, and re-assemble it all again. I hate cables I put them as orderly as I could, this time I used cable ties. And it is now set:

    The Scent Exhibit
There is an exhibit currently showing in Philadelphia, PA centered around the sense of smell.

I find this subject intriguing and I am willing to drive up all the way up there tomorrow to catch the last day of it.

     The Challenge:
    - Post 3 things you've done in your lifetime that you don't think anybody else on your friends list has done.
    - See if anybody else responds with "I've done that."
    - Have your friends cut & paste this into their journal to see what unique things they've done in their life.

    1) Had a snake crawl across my torso mid-coitus. (No, not on purpose, ya perv ;) )
    2) Passed out at the feet of a doctor who looked like the rapist OB/GYN from The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (Nothing happened, thank the gods, but eww freaky...)
    3) Caught a 14 inch rainbow trout and kept it in the freezer for two years, refusing to let my mother cook it or throw it away because he was my pet, and if she cooked him, she'd kill him. (I was 5. Not so brilliant. lol)

Teacher fired for liking heavy metal
it seem that one teacher in a school in Västervik in Sweden was fired because he liked heavy metal. The headmaster said that the teacher would not be accepted by the others teachers or the students parents because he liked heavy metal. And as a further reason he said that the heavy metal bands lyrics that the teacher played in was against the schools morals.

    How silly people can be.

New 'Music' / CD releases / Carlin
repost from my music myspace profile

    New ’music’
Was sitting around the house today, just a boring Tuesday so I wound up composing this. Obviously there are spaces where you can tell I left it open for another instrument but this is what the last couple hours yielded.

    Juz Jammin

Just some drum loops I spliced and four tracks of bass, no guitars!

Also our (Todesbonden) debut album for Prophecy Productions is now officially released in the US, Germany and the rest of the world as of yesterday.
